Clinically developed Acute Medical Referral List saves clinical time and improves patient experience at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust
Challenge
With the increased volume and acuity of admitted patients in addition to the increased range of locations at which acute medical patients were admitted – particularly during the pandemic, the trust needed to easily identify and track patients, their clinical progress and location on their hospital journey. To better support handovers throughout the day, they also needed to quickly see and track referrals and admissions from multiple streams.
Allscripts Sunrise EPR enabled the trust to configure use of an electronic patient list to provide an up-to-date overview of acute medical patients. Utilising data already available in the system to reduce duplication, improve quality, save time and reduce the risk of error in creating and maintaining paper lists.
